Artists Carlos Aires (Ronda, Malaga, 1974) and Pepo Ruiz Dorado (Puerto Real, Cádiz, 1968) presents a specific project for the gallery, where they raise jointly a stage of vital conflict. Landscapes of war, happiness, pain, absences, places for the prohibited pleasure and symbolic constructions of a contradictory panorama.

"I am the fiancée of the death" is the title to this multidisciplinary exhibition, where there is association of the concepts of force, pleasure and death. Both artists invite the spectator to take part in this artistic wedding with all it senses and it intelligence.

This way, the video "Cataracts ", of Aires, is a bright visual allegory of the human condition and the degradation of this one in its most perverse state, composed of a succession of illegible images of wretched and cruel events of the international situation commented by histories of blind persons or witnesses.

In contrast with this distressing vision, Aires offers us his most kind facet in the series of photos "And they were happy": bucolic landscapes, pleased forests and idyllic places dyed by the luminosity of the desire and the more or less nostalgic evocation of the time of the happiness. Another work, " In the glass Darkly", formed by an installation of 100 photographic black and white portraits, where pose smiling, the most excellent historical and influential personages of the international panorama, it plans an ironic review, in view of the contemporary spectacle, of the concepts of reality and illusion, identity and simulation, individual and collective desire, etc.

Aires has done studies and masters of photography in Europe and United States, his successful trajectory has led him to exhibit in galleries as Feigen Contemporary Gallery (New York, USA), Galleria Laurin (Zurich, Switzerland), or Cokkie Snoei Gallery (Amsterdam, Holland). Recently, in his project for EuroArt (photographic projects in billboards), led a scandal in Vienna because of having exhibited in the frame of a campaign to greet the arrival of Austria to the presidency of the EU pornographic photos, where the faces of the actors involved in acts of sex grupal were turning out to be covered by masks of international leaders as George Bush, Jacques Chirac and the queen Isabel II de Inglaterra. The images were withdrawn immediately from the public route after provoking angered responses and a big scandal.

Pepo Ruiz Dorado interferes with the creation of uninhabited places. Constructions, spaces of reflection, territories and refuges, concepts that he has contended with in the last years, giving as result a few hybrid works between the sculptural, the pictorial and the videografic, of big poetical resonance. Texts, embroideries, flowers of wax, votive offerings and material memories. His work, "Game of Construction", formed by geometric buckets, and constructive ill-proportioned pieces of textiles and foam rubber, or the piece “Wind of East”, an installation consisted of a mysterious cockpit with serigraphy cloth and projection of images that express tensions and vital disequilibrium.

Ruiz Dorado has realized courses and masters in Plastic and Textiles Arts in Fontys Academie voor Beeldenden kunsten (Tilburg, Holland), in Universidad de Leicester (United Kingdom) and in the AVB of Tilburg (Holland), his most recent projects could have been seen in Gasthoff-Frankfurt: “Bread with Bread, Food for Fools”, and in Manifesta 2002 (Biennial of contemporary young art of Europe) Frankfurt, “Very simple but very nice”: Galerie Kokon, Tilburg (Netherlands), D-Mencia. Contest of contemporary art of Doña Mencia, Cordoba, and “Platos Rotos” (Broken plates). Projects of contemporary ceramic in Spain and United Kingdom.
